We had so much fun spending time together to play games, create art, and share food at our Family Happy Hour after the last No Kings rally in March. We got together with new friends and long-time friends to strengthen our connections and simply to enjoy hanging out instead of always working together. Your participation revived us as we get ready for our busiest season – Pride Month in June. If you see us at one of our tabling events in Bowie and around Prince George’s County, be sure to notice our paperweights, painted like all the LGBTQ+ identity flags. We really needed some good paperweights for all our booklets! And one tween created the lovely unicorn on a small canvas you see above this post.
We have a busy month coming up, starting on Saturday, May 30 for the Prince George’s County 250 Block Party, from 11:00 -3:30 in the parking lot by the Bowie Library and the Center for the Performing Arts. If you come by our table, you’ll see our gorgeous paperweights – and feel free to pick up a pronoun pin, Pride flag, or booklet for yourself or someone you love.
We’ll be back in the same spot on June 7 during the Farmer’s Market special event – BowieFest Reimagined, since the BowieFest got cancelled this year. Come see us from 9-1 while you’re grabbing some fresh bread and veggies and other farmer’s market treats.
Later that afternoon, we’ll have another team at the National Harbor from 11-2 for their annual PrideWalk.
We’ll end the month at the RainbowFest through the PG Library system, this year at the South Bowie Library.
So if you’re at one of these events, please come by our table and say hello. If you’d like to volunteer, simply reply to this email and we can make arrangements.
Thanks to you all for your encouragement, artistic abilities and financial support that makes our work possible.
