Our board members are looking forward to welcoming the Founding Members of our chapter! We welcome anyone who is interested in our mission to support and advocate for our loved ones in the LGBTQ+ community.
Who might like to join? Maybe you are still processing your response to someone in your circle revealing their truth to you, and you need a safe space to question and consider ways to strengthen your relationships. Maybe you’d like to share your story, enlightening others with your lived experiences. Maybe you want to show your support by volunteering at events or in administrative tasks. Maybe you would like to do more for social justice and rally to support or oppose legislation. We welcome you, wherever you are on your journey.
What are we going to do at our first meeting? That kind of depends on who comes, on any given night really. Our plan is to introduce ourselves and share our hopes, intentions, and questions. We will have a planned topic for discussion at each meeting, leaning on the vast resources available through the national PFLAG organization. At this first meeting, we want to hear about the direction you’d like to go. We’ll share a little history of PFLAG and our chapter.
You don’t have to be a member to come to our meetings, and you don’t have to come to the meetings to be a member. Your membership will help us anchor this chapter to strengthen our community. PFLAG meetings are for adults 18 years of age and older. There is a PFLAG Youth program we’d be happy to discuss if there is enough interest.
